Xavier ROGÉ first studied classical percussion at the Conservatory of Tournai, then discovers jazz at the age of 15 and starts playing jazz two years later, after completion of his classical studies.

He then concentrates on the drums, which he studies with Laurent MERCIER.

He participates in workshops where he meets Fabrizio CASSOL and Stéphan GALLAND, who put him in contact with a more contemporary approach.

Following these meetings, he develops an interest for Indian music and compound meters.

He then joins the WEST MUSIC CLUB Big Band, where he meets a.o. Richard ROUSSELET (tp) and Yves GOURMEUR (p)

In September 2000, he joins the jazz section of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where he studies with Bruno CASTELLUCCI (drs). He obtains a First Prize in jazz drumming, a "Prix Supéérieur" in rhythm

The teachers he had in the jazz department of the Brussels Conservatory, Bruno CASTELLUCCI (drs), Richard ROUSSELET (tp), Michel HATZIGEORGIOU (b), Jean-Louis RASSINFOSSE (b) were to become musicians with whom he would be playing a few years later.

He was a member of several bands :

  • Aka Celtes Airs
  • the rock band "THE DALLAS EXPLOSION".
  • Benoît CAUDRON (p) and his band ALGAM / Les Tribus, with Fabrice ALLEMAN, Pierre BERNARD, Michel CASTILLANO (b).
  • Michel HATZIGEORGIOU's "Tribute to George Harrison", with a.o. HATZIGEORGIOU (b), Jozef DUMOULIN (el. p), Michel ANDINA (sitar), etc...
  • Richard ROUSSELET's Tribute to Miles
  • WAL HOUSE of JAZZ with Phil ABRAHAM, Richard ROUSSELET, Fabrice ALLEMAN, Pascal MOHY, Sam GERSTMANS (Jazz à Liège Festival 2003)
  • FABRICE ALLEMAN ONE SHOT BAND,
  • OUT OF MEMORY, with Michel HATZIGEORGIOU, Jozef DUMOULIN, Pierre BERNARD, Erwin VANN, Pierre VAN DORMAEL.
