Final bar : pianist Johnny Hot
Pianist/bandleader Johnny Hot passed away on February 24, 2108, at the age of 85.
He played with the Jump College, a Belgian dance orchestra which he later conducted, performing with Sidney Bechet, Django Reinhardt, Kenny Clarke, Slide Hampton, etc..
He played with numerous Belgian soloists (Sadi a.o.) and orchestras (Retro Jazz Orchestra).

Pianist Bram Weijters launches the project "Crazy Men", revisiting the fusion jazz from Belgium from the 70ies.
The first set will feature new arrangements of a selection of compositions from the repertoire of Belgian fusion bands such as a.o. Placebo (Marc Moulin), Solis Lacus (Michel Herr), etc.... while the second set will present new arrangements on the music from the complete Koen De Bruyn album "Here comes the crazy man" (recently reissued).
The line-up :
Bram Weijters (kb), Sam Vloemans (tp), Andrew Claes (ten sax, EWI and electronics), Vincent Brijs (bari sax), Dries Laheye (bass) and Steven Cassiers (drums).
Premiere on Jan. 19, 2018 in De Singel (Antwerp), followed by a JazzLab Series tour in February 2018.
