A piece by Michel Herr selected by ECSA in a European program played by the Big Band RTV Slovenia
The European Composer and Songwriter Alliance (ECSA) organizes on September 28, 2016 in Lublijana (Slovenia) a concert in the framework of its international ECCO project featuring big band music written by European composers. Michel Herr's piece "Springboard" was selected by a special jury to be part of the program, next to pieces by composers from the UK, Norway, Croatia, Finland, Poland, Slovenia.

The band Mâäk's is introduces an electro jazz/dance project with artists from Burkina Faso in September 2016. The choreography is by Salia Sanou / Musical director : Laurent Blondiau. Final bar : bassist Paul Dubois
Bassist (and vocalist) Paul Dubois (92) passed away. He played with a distinctive class with jazz greats such as Max Roach, Clifford Brown, Lester Young, Hank Jones, Buck Clayton etc... and was a member of the Jump College, the Victoria Jazz Band, the Sweet Substitutes.

Trombonist Phil Abraham will participate in the celebrations of 30 years of ONJ (Orchestre National de Jazz, France) on September 2, 2016, at the Cité de la Musique (Paris). Phil was a member of the orchestra during 6 years, 3 with Laurent Cugny and 3 with Didier Levallet.
A special concert will be organized for the occasion.

Final bar : Toots Thielemans
Belgian jazz legend Jean-Baptiste Frederic Isidore Thielemans, known affectionately as 'Toots', died in his sleep in a hospital in Braine l'Alleud early Monday, (Aug. 22, 2016). The composer of "Bluesette" was 94.
Born in 1922 in Brussels, Thielemans got a big break when he joined Benny Goodman on a European tour in 1950 before moving to the US where he teamed up with other jazz greats, including Bill Evans, George Shearing, Quincy Jones, Jaco Pastorius... (click on the title to read his biography).
His lyricism on the harmonica and the guitar was unique. An exceptional musician.
Update : a service will take place at the church of La Hulpe (B), on Saturday 27/8, 11.00 a.m. Access probably limited to capacity...

Drummer Teun Verbruggen to open a collective artist center in Brussels : "Walter"
