3rd JazzPlaysEurope Laboratory, with the participation of pianist Christian Mendoza
By gathering promising jazz artists in one unique project, JazzPlaysEurope Laboratory aims to provide a glimpse of where the new generation of jazz musicians is heading.
The 3rd JazzPlaysEurope Laboratory 2011 is hosted by TryTone. 7 musicians from 7 European countries rehearse in Amsterdam for three days in complete artistic freedom.
Their work is presented during a European tour, in professional jazz venues of each artists’ own country. Organized with the Trytone foundation and JazzLab Series (B) a.o., the 3rd edition of JazzPlaysEurope Laboratory will take place this fall. The participants are Jasper Stadhouders (NL): guitar, John-Dennis Renken (D): trumpet, Maxime Bender (LUX): saxes, Radovan Taril¡ka (SK): saxes, Christian Mendoza (B) : piano, Claire Bellamy (F): bass, Michael Bryndal, (PL): drums.

Thomas Champagne Trio + Pierre Vaiana, Lorenzo Di Maio, Bart Defoort
The Thomas Champagne Trio continues its 10th aniversary concerts, inviting + Pierre Vaiana (sop sax), Lorenzo Di Maio (gt) and Bart Defoort (sax).
The trio will also play live at the Petit Théâtre Mercelis (Brussels) in the play by Nicolas Bedos "Promenade de santé". 11 performances in October/November 2011.

Drummer Bruno Castellucci (check his monthly radio show on RTL radio "Ca va jazzer") is pretty busy these days. He played at the Cayenne Jazz Festival in Guyane (F) with French singer Anne Ducros, teaches some clinics and tours in Germany.

Launch October 2nd of Bert Joris' new album « Only For The Honest » in De Roma
Bert Joris Quartet just recorded a new album on the record label "52creations".
A release concert will take place on October 2, 2011, at De Roma in Borgerhout.
Bert Joris (trumpet), Dado Moroni (piano), Philippe Aerts (bass) and Dre Pallemaerts (drums) will be touring again to introduce this new quartet CD entitled "Only for the honest".

Finalists of the Roger Vahaverbeke bass trophy
Three bands (featuring bassists) will reach the fails of the first edition of the Roger Vanhaverbeke Bass Trophy : Félix Zurstrassen, André Klenes et Michel Vrydag.
You can discover them during the brunch at the Sheraton Brussels Airport Hotel on September 25, 2011 (Félix Zurstrassen), Oct. 23 André Klenes and November 20, 2011 (Michel Vrydag). The winner will be announced on January 22, 2012.

Pianist Nathalie Loriers wins the Sabam Prize for Belgian jazz themes
Pianist and composer Nathalie Loriers has won the 2011 edition of the annual composition contest for Belgian jazz themes organized by SABAM Culture.
The winning piece,"Canzoncina", will be the imposed work to be played by the finalists of the upcoming Jazz Hoeilaart contest for young bands in September.

    Grand prix of the jury & public Prize at the Avignon (FR) competition has been awarded to a Belgian piano trio, LABtrio. The trio is composed of Bram De Looze (p), Anneleen Boehme (b) and Lander Gyselinck (drs).
