Gent Jazz may not be allowed to go crazy at its festival site this summer, but that doesn’t mean we can’t go a little bit bananas. From July 8th until July 21st, Gent Jazz 1.5 will take over the spot where the Garden Stage is usually located – with (more than) one and a half metres distance between the visitors.
Every evening (5pm – midnight), two to three acts will create a cozy, summery and above all unadulterated festival atmosphere. Of course, strictly according to the corona guidelines: seated, in bubbles up to fifteen people and with a maximum capacity of 400 people.
On the bill: the cream of the Belgian jazz scene! Everyone will play a full set (+/- 75 minutes), with an equally renowned DJ taking over in between concerts.
This will by no means be a ‘normal’ festival edition, but we want to do all we can to offer our visitors some memorable concerts and unforgettable evenings this summer. And, of course, we are also very happy to be able to offer our favourite jazz musicians an audience again – the best in the country!
But wait! There’s even more! After the concerts, the Bijloke site will be transformed into a free-for-all summer bar, where notorious jazz fans will show off their record collection. Also, on July 11, 12, 19 and 21, brunch concerts* will be served from 11am until 2pm.
Still more? Absolutely! Because there won’t be a (real) Gentse Feesten this year either, Gent Jazz 1.5 will also host Mardi Gras 1.5 on July 17 and 18. Expect the same spectacle from underneath the Ghent City Hall, but in a slightly more exclusive setting.
The full program will be announced on our website, which is also the only point of sale for tickets. But make sure to also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updates.
Tickets for the evening program cost between 19 and 24 euros per person and must be purchased per bubble (2 to 15 people). Tickets for the brunch concerts can be bought separately – though also per bubble.
In addition to mouth masks, festival-goers will be able to order drinks on-site via the Dorst.app. Hungry? We will also arrange for various food trucks in the evening. Again, of course, strictly in accordance with the corona guidelines.
