Fruit of the peculiar spontaneity that lies at the core of jazz music, this trio was born in the spring of 2017. Right after landing in Brussels, French bassist Alex Gilson gets himself noticed at jam sessions by Joachim Caffonnette, a well-established pianist on the local scene, who invites him to play a few club concerts in the city. Immediately, the two young musicians find an intimate connection and play a series of concerts, sharing the stage with many local musicians. They decide to set up a trio tour for the pleasure of playing unpretentious standards. They set their eyes on Paris-based drummer Jean-Baptiste Pinet and after four concerts, the powerful synergy between the three musicians leaves no doubt : a new trio is born. Caffonnette starts to compose an original repertoire and a few months later, the trio puts on a series of twelve performances in clubs over a period of less than three weeks. In the wake of this marathon, they enter the studio to record an album completed by live recordings that translate the energy and the osmosis of the scenic environment. The result is a nice balance between technical precision and magic of the moment. The album was release in spring 2019 on the German label Neuklang Records.
