Jazz, Gypsy, Swing
Joyful and catchy swing, full of complicity and humour on stage.
As a French gypsy swing acoustic quartet, Minor Swing blends own compositions and rendering of great standards by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. Although they are very respectful of the great masters of the style, they keep on developing their own identity and cultivate their own band sound. First associated with a singer (hence the name of Minor Sing), the group became an exclusively instrumental quartet when it was joined in 2014 by Yannick Alcocer (also guitarist of Les Doigts de lHomme).
Yannick Alcocer (Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia) started playing guitar with his father, focussing on Latin American music. When he arrived in France, he discovered western music, including jazz and soul. Entirely under the spell of Django Reinhardt's music, he recorded his first swing record in Brittany before joiningLes Doigts de lHomme in 2005 .
Jazz violinist and guitarist Jean Lardanchet, another admirer of the music of Django and Grappelli, has been active on the gypsy swing scene for over ten years.
Sylvain Pourrat has been involved as a musician and composer in jazz ensembles, French chanson bands and projects with actors (Bastien Brison Trio, Les Amandises, Trio Kodama).
Laurent Vincenza, who discovered the music of Django at the age of twelve with an old vinyl LP record borrowed from his father, divides his time between giving concerts with his group Minor Sing and teaching the guitar at the Conservatoire of Limonest.
Their joyful and catchy swing, combined with a performance full of complicity and humour on stage, contributes to their success, attracting a still growing enthusiastic audience!
