Denis Van Hecke passed away in January 2012 after a career of 40 years. The festival pays tribute to this exceptional musician who embraced music entirely. He played both the acoustic and electric cello and developed his own 5-string electric cello 30 years ago. He shared the stage with Higelin, Vassiliu, Dick Annegarn, and worked with Frank Wuyts on Musique Flexible. It is this faithful companion who will lead the orchestra during this unique night supported by Eric Longsworth, an unclassifiable musician who uses his cello as if it is a guitar, bass guitar or percussion. His roots are in American folk and in jazz he looks for all musical aspects that move him.
