Jean-Luc Pappi has a classical training (First prize in piano and chamber music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels), but goes very quickly for jazz music.
Jean-Luc is encouraged by musicians such as Toots Thielemans and Steve
Houben, with whom he plays in the group «Cuban Breeze" for one year.
Steve Houben plays as "special guest" for his first CD : "JOJOBA", the
bassist, Eric Fusillier is the co leader of the group.
Influenced by Herbie Hancock, Joey Calderazzo and multiple experiences in
Latin American music, Jean Luc Pappi creates his own style which is a
mixture of jazz, classical and Latin American Music, on a base of
improvisation.
In 2010 he founded his own trio. In the universe of their compositions, they
explore a world constantly in motion, an improvisation of rhythm and
melody. The three musicians (Jean-Luc Pappi (piano clavier), Eric Fusillier (bass) and Thierry Gutmann (drums), communicate in a surprising way and make of each concert a unique moment.
With this same principle of interaction, the group also plays jazz standards, and they invite soloists such as Xavier Richardeau (baritone saxophone), Gino Lattuca (trumpet) ...
