Aka Moon : an overview in 15 concerts at the Jazz Station in Brussels
To celebrate its 20th birthday, the band Aka Moon will play 15 concerts at the Jazz Station in Brussels, starting November 22, 2012. Several guests will be invited, a.o. David Linx, Baba Sissoko, Magik Malik, etc...and Jean-Pol Schroeder will give 2 lectures (in French) on their musical journey. And an exhibition will take place.

US drummer Todd Bishop tours with Belgian musicians : Jean-Pol Estiévenart, Olivier Stalon, Martin Méreau
Little Played Little Bird - European tour 2012.
The Todd Bishop's Group plays the music of Ornette Coleman. The band consists of Todd Bishop - drums, arrangements, Jean-Paul Estiévenart - trumpet, Martin Méreau - vibraphone and Olivier Stalon - bass. They will be on tour through Belgium, Germany, France and Luxemburg in November 2012.

Final bar : drummer Bob Dartsch
Drummer Bob Dartsch passed away this morning.
He specialized in traditional jazz, played with Amercan soloists such as Bud Freeman, Bill Coleman, Memphis Slim, Might Flea Connors, etc...
In recent years, he was associated with pianists Marc Hérouet and Renaud Patigny, with the band Buster and the Swing and recorded several albums. A versatile musician, he also played on the blues, rock and jazz-rock scene (Salix Alba).

The Belgian trio "De Beren Gieren" has won the Jazz Hoeilaart Contest for Young bands 2012. The band also received the Sabam Culture Prize for the best performance of the mandatory piece "Blue" (by Albert Vila) and their pianist Fulco Ottervanger the prize of the Best Soloist.
