Saxophonist Nicolas Kummert on tour in France with drummer Karl Jannuska
Saxophonist Nicolas Kummert will be on tour in France with the band of drummer Karl Jannuska in october 2012 on the occasion of the release of the new cd : Karl Jannuska feat. Sienna Dahlen "The Halfway Tree" (PJU records PJU009) with Olivier Zanot (as), Nicolas Kummert (ts), Pierre Perchaud (g), Tony Paeleman (p, fender) & Andrew Downing (cello), Sienna Dahlen (voice), Karl jannuska (drums).
Meanwhile, Nicolas Kummert is also taking care of the programming of "La Chapelle de Verre" (in Ronquières, B). See our Live Jazz section, programme.

Sept. 22 : "Nouvel An belge" in Paris, with a.o Tricycle
"Le Nouvel An Belge" will take place this year on Saturday Sept. 22, 2012 in Paris, Montmartre. Buro lano is proud to be partner of this extraordinary event and will present some Belgian jazz in Centre FGO Barbara!
The program: an exclusive French-Belgian meeting between Tricyle (BE) - the band of the accordeon player Tuur Florizoone - and trombone player Sébastien Llado (FR).
The evening will be closed by 'Orchestre National of DGIZ'.

The band Aka Moon explores the music from the Balkans with musicians from Bulgaria
In residence in Royaumont (F), the band Aka Moon explores the complex music from the Balkans with musicians from Bulgaria. Added to the trio : Nedyalko Nedyalkov (kaval), Tima Neyalkov (vocals), Vladimir Karparov (sax & clarinet), Stoyan Yankulov (percussion), and guests Tcha Limberger (violin & vocals) and Fabian Fiorini (piano).
The premiere will take place in Royaumont (France) on September 29, 2012, followed by appearancess in Jazz Brugge on October 5, and Bozar (Brussels) later this year during the Balkan Traffik Festival.

The multiple projects of pianist and composer Jef Neve
After his participation to the Ludovic Bource's Oscar winning soundtrack of "The Artist", pianist and composer Jef Neve will release in October 2012 on Universal/Emarcy an album with his project "Sons of the New World". A tour is to follow in 5 Belgian venues in November/December 2012. Belgian popular TV program "Villa Vanthilt" presented the project on their

Jef decided also to make a first jazz videoclip, for which he could count on the support of a bunch of talented young people who believe in his idea : director Senne Dehandschutter, choreographer Iris Bouché and a crew of 20 plus cast of 60 dancers & actors.
Jef Neve just finished his Piano Concerto Nr.2, which will be premièred in October 2012 in the four cities, Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Hasselt, together with the Brussels Philharmonic, as well as in China in 2014. The Concerto will be also performed in a version for 2 pianos, together with pianist Alexander Gurning.
For 2014 Jef Neve is preparing a Solo piano recording.

Final bar : pianist Jean Fanis
Jean Fanis (born 1924), who was considered one of the finests bebop pianists in Belgium, and who played with numerous soloists (Sadi, Raoul Faisant, Jack Sels, Etienne Verschueren, René Thomas, Jacques Pelzer, Ben Webster, Stuff Smith, Lucky Thompson, Milt Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Al Jones , Clifford Brown), passed away in the night of 2-3 September 2012.

The current project of the band De Beren Gieren
The band De Beren Gieren about its current and upcoming projects :
After the release concert of our official debut album this spring we could not sit still and we continued hunting for new adventures.
Besides a well-received showcase at the 12 Points festival in Porto, we realized a project with Ernst Rijeseger and Joachim Badenhorst in collaboration with Arts Centre Vooruit. De Beren Gieren are artist in residence at the Vooruit in 2012 and 2013 and are determined to fully embrace this opportunity. In December we play a concert with the French clarinetist Louis Sclavis and next spring will bring a collaboration with Portuguese trumpeter Susana Santos Silva around the Trout Quintet by Schubert.
We are currently working on a new repertoire for our 2nd full album.
