Drummer Stéphane Galland announces an upcoming studio album with his Lobi project, to be released in the fall 2012 on Outnote Records.
Lobi is composed of Tigran Hamasayan (p), Misirli Ahmet (perc), Carles Benavent (el. bass), Magic Malik (flute, voc.), Petar Rolchev (accordeon) and Stéphane Galland (drums).

Jef Neve completes his 2nd piano concerto, and introduces "Sons of the New World"
Pianist/composer Jef will give the premiere performance of his second piano concerto with the Brussels Philharmonic during several concerts in October 2012.
In the meantime, he announces the launch of a new project, featuring his trio and 5 wind instruments, "Sons of the New World" (concerts in June 2012, cd in October 2012 on Universal).

    The trio of pianist Jeremy Dumont has won the 1st Prize in the Young bands contest in Comblain-la-Tour (ex-æquo with the Saying Somethin’ Quartet). The trio is composed of Jeremy Dumont (p), Bas Cooijmans (cb) and Fabio Zamagni (drs).
    They are invited to perform during the festival in July 2012.

    "MixTuur" & "Rêve d'éléphant" play in Roumania
    'Mixtuur' & 'Rêve d'Eléphant Orchestra' played in Roumenia last week at the 'Sibiu Jazz Festival' (www.sibiujazz.ro), thanks to the Belgian Jazz Meeting, earlier this year in Bruges, where Belgian bands could play for a public of concert organisers. For Tuur Florizoone it's the 3rd time he will play at this prestigious festival.
    Both bands will tour this summer at several jazz festivals in Belgium : Comblain-la-Tour, Gaume Jazz Festival, Jazz Middelheim, Festival d'Art de Huy...

    Michel Herr is the arranger for the creation of "Colors of Time" in Switzerland, featuring 70 musicians on stage
    Beginning of May 2012, Michel Herr went Switzerland to supervize the rehearsals of the "Colors of time" project, which features 13 arrangements he wrote on compositions by the Swiss pianist/composer Thierry Lang, featuring 5 European jazzmen (David Linx on vocals, Thierry Lang on piano, Matthieu Michel on trumpet, Heiri Känzig on bass and André Ceccarelli on drums) + the "Accroche-Choeur", a large choir (50+) from Fribourg (CH) and the strings of the "Ensemble de Chambre Fribourgeois", conducted by Jean-Claude Fasel.
    This unique project, which saw more than 70 musicians and singers share the stage, was created on May 11 and 12, 2012 in Fribourg (CH) with a huge success. A cd is being planned.

    May 6 & 7 : special "Hep taxi" on Belgian jazz on RTBF tv La 2
    RTBF television (B) will re-broadcast a special programme from its "Hep Taxi" series, focusing on Belgian jazz. Musicians who will appear in the programme are a.o. Philip Catherine (gt), Bert Joris (tp), Alexandre Cavaliere (vl), Quentin Liégeois (gt) and Mimi Verderame (drs, gt).
    Michel Herr wrote a piece for the occasion, titled "A hip taxi", played by Steve Houben (alto sax), Jean-Pol Estiévenart (tp), Nicolas Kummert (tenor sax), Pascal Mohy (p), Jean-Louis Rassinfosse (double bass) and Jérôme Baudart (drums).
    64 minutes of live music, archives and interviews.
