Brussels Jazz Orchestra invited to play in New-York's Blue Note with Kenny Werner & Chris Potter
In March 2012 the BJO will travel for the fifth time to New York, the mecca of jazz, for a series of concerts. This time the Orchestra will be artist in residence at the famous Blue Note Jazz Club. Following the customary format of New York jazz clubs, they will be performing two concerts per evening, on six consecutive nights, with pianist Kenny Werner and saxophonist Chris Potter.
Concert dates: New York, Blue Note Jazz Club, 131 West 3rd St. From Tuesday March 27, 2012 thru Sunday April 1st, 2012.

Aka Moon celebrates 20th anniversary with new album, a cd reissue, concerts and a residence
For its 20th anniversary, the band Aka Moon will release a new album titled "Unison". Its albums on the Carbon7 label will be reissued in the form a cd box by Cyprès records.
Aka Moon will also play a series of concerts in France, the Netherlands, Algeria.
The band will be in residence at the Jazz Station in Brussels from Nov. 22 thru Dec. 22, 2012.
A release concert for the new album will take place on March 29, 2012, at the Bptanique (Brussels).

Nils Lindberg's Requiem + new piece by Frank Vaganee : 4 concerts of Brussels Jazz Orchestra & Choir
The Requiem by Nils Lindberg will soon be performed again by Brussels Jazz Orchestra, the Vlaams Radio Koor and Capella di Voce.
After the Requiem, a new composition by Frank Vaganée, "Two Small Bags and Ten Million Dreams", will be introduced. Michaël De Cock wrote the libretto.

On April 29, 2012, Toots Thielemans will celebrate his 90th birthday !
Many events will take place for the occasion. A tour is planned from April 30 thru May 18, 2012, as well as a cd, a dvd and a book :"Toots 90" (in 3 languages), full of testimonies on the legendary musician provided by many colleagues.

An Oscar for "The Artist", best music soundtrack, featuring the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Jef Neve
After a Golden Globe, aEuropean Film Award, a César, a Bafta award (UK), the Oscars crowned the movie "The Artist" (Michel Hazanavicius) in several categories, including best music soundtrack. The music, composed by Ludovic Bource, was recorded in Brussels (Studio 4, Flagey) by the Brussels Jazz Orchestra (playing a.o. with great conviction in the Benny Goodman's big band style !), the Brussels Philharmonic (conducted by Ernst van Tiel, NL) and pianist Jef Neve.
