DOUBLE JAZZ REFERENDUM '98 : LISTENERS AND CRITICS
Two new jazz referendums have been created in Belgium : the listeners referendum, created by Philippe BARON (of RTBF radio) and Sim SIMONS (VRT radio) and the critics referendum (French speaking jazz critics). The results for '98 have been announced.
For a complete list of the winners (World, Europe) check the RTBF/jazz web site in a few days.
As far as Belgian jazz musicians are concerned, here is an overview of the "winners". Some of them even appear in the category "Europe". Congratulations to the winners, a little publicity doesn't hurt. But let's not forget the dozens of great musicians who are not mentioned here. After all, these are only polls, and there are many other artists who really deserve our attention. See our Musicians A-Z page to take a look at the great forgotten ones and to get a better idea of the richness of the current Belgian jazz scene. N.B.: In parentheses behind the winner's name is the category in which his name appears : B (for Belgium), Europe, World
