Dieter LIMBOURG is a musician that gets to be heard more and more on the Belgian jazz scene these days. At ease in various forms of jazz playing, he also plays various saxophones and woodwind instruments.

Dieter LIMBOURG studied at the Music Conservatory in Ghent, and in Hilversum with Ferdinand POVEL.

He toured all over Europe with the rhythm'n blues band of Rufus THOMAS.

In '96-97 he works on a regular basis with the band BLUE BLOT, even doing the support act of Tina TURNER.

He has played with many well known names of the Belgian jazz scene : Tony BAUWENS (p), Richard ROUSSELET (tp), Jean-Louis RASSINFOSSE (b), Bruno CASTELLUCCI (drs), Michel HERR (p), Toots THIELEMANS (harm.), Jean WARLAND (b), etc...

He is currently a member of the BRUSSELS JAZZ ORCHESTRA, led by alto saxophonist VAGANÉE and recorded with them the album The September Sessions (De Werf).

In a more mainstream old style, he plays with Charles LOOS (p) and Paul DUBOIS (b) and their band THE SWEET SUBSTITUTES.

He also plays with the post-bop sextet HIGH VOLTAGE with a.o. trumpet player Nico SCHEPERS.

As a leader, he recently presented a quartet with Hans VAN OOST (guitar), Bas COOYMANS (bass) and Félix SIMTAINE (drums).
