Bart VAN CAENEGEM studied at the Lemmens Instituut, in Leuven (Belgium), and his teachers were a.o. pianists Jan VERMEULEN and Ron Van ROSSUM, Bert JORIS (tp, arr.), bassist Philippe AERTS (b), Frank VAGANÉE (sax) and Dré PALLEMAERTS (drs).
As a freelance jazz pianist, he performed with many soloists and bands, such as the High Voltage Sextet or the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, playing a.o. in the US the music of Kenny WERNER.
He also is an arranger, and he plays piano with the "Frivole Framboos", an humorous and musical duo which is very active in Belgium and abroad.
Bart VAN CAENEGEM currently presents his own trio with bassist Peter VERHAEGEN and drummer Lieven VENKEN.
Bart VAN CAENEGEM teaches in the kunsthumaniora of Antwerpen.
