Concours Luc Ferrari

Concours Luc Ferrari
International radio broadcasted arts competition - 8th edition
for recorded sounds and instrument
The 8th biennial competition created by Luc Ferrari with the support of Sacem is inspired by a piece from his work, La dame de Shanguai for a flute trio and pre-recorded track.
Both a way of paying tribute to Mr. Ferrari as well as a means of stimulating the imagination of composers, the current competition asks participants to write a piece that develops the principal of the Horspiel.
The entries should resemble mixed music but without any interaction other than the synchronization of an instrument with stereophonic or 5.1 support. The instrumental score will be able to be amplified and transformed except for computerized real time processing. The final piece, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, will be performed in concert.
The winning entries as well as the piece written by Luc Ferrari will be featured on disc as well as in concerts associated with the competition.
We hope that this tradition of honoring Mr. Ferrari will be stimulating and likely to give rise to new talents and not just epigones.

Bass guitar stolen Windmill JM
In de nacht van zaterdag 26/4 op zondag 27/4 is omstreeks 00.15 mijn
basgitaar verdwenen uit de inkomhal van het zwembad waar het 'Beleg van
Schoten' doorging. Deze lag in een zwarte zak van 'Rockbag' tegen mijn
contrabas. Mijn basgitaar is een Windmill JM (kleur is een soort van
kersrode sunburst) met een jazzbass en een musicman element. Het model is
dat van een jazzbass. De nek is esdoorn met parelmoeren inlays, de kop is
eveneens kersrood. De bas is erg herkenbaar, ik heb er namelijk de slagplaat
afgehaald, de gaatjes van de schroeven zijn duidelijk zichtbaar. IOok had ik er straplocks op geïnstalleerd.
In de zak bevonden zich ook een splinternieuwe Boss Line Selector (met adapter) en
gitaarkabels (Cordial, 3m, met Neutrik fiches). Als je ergens een dergelijke bas tegenkomt (winkel, beurs, repetitie, optreden, ...), gelieve mij dan zo snel mogelijk te contacteren! Alle info is meer dan welkom, die bas
is enorm belangrijk voor mij, ik ben er nogal aan gehecht! Als je iets
gezien hebt, je hebt een vermoeden waar ze zou kunnen zien, of je kent
iemand die er meer van weet, laat het mij dan weten aub.

Big Band Bruxellois cherche Trompettistes et Trombonistes
Nous sommes un jeune Big Band plein d'énergie et de motivation composé de 13 musiciens. Notre objectif est de monter un répertoire comprenant divers standards de Jazz, Funk, Latin et de se produire le plus possible.

Lessons available with New York Saxophonist Peter Van Huffel
Canadian-born saxophonist Peter Van Huffel has been a resident of New York City since 2002. He has been an active performer on the New York jazz scene performing with his own groups and as a sideman in multiple projects. Peter has performed alongside Chris Potter, Donny McCaslin and Clarence Penn and has studied with David Liebman, Tony Malaby, George Garzone and Pat LaBarbera among others. Peter has two degrees in Jazz Performance including a Master in Music from the Manhattan School of Music.
Peter is currently spending three months based in Brussels and is offering lessons to students of all levels. Lessons will cover all topics including basic sound development, creating one’s own musical voice, basic to advanced technique, reading, chord changes and improvisation, free improvisation and stylistic developments.

6 days; a good bed, breakfast (buffet), lunch, dinner (only fresh ingrediënts), coffee/tea 3 times a day. n.b. evening drinks are excluded, café prices.
-Lessons:
mornings: practical theory: 18 hours >>>>exercices which you can use and expand throughout the rest of the year(s)>>>>
-afternoons: ensemble-class -Most years there are 2 or 3 groups per week.

-evenings: (not obliged) jam-sessions until the “Wee Small Hours”…
-Young musicians up to the age of 25 will be getting a discount of 20% and will be paying € 400,-
The everage age is above 35, but fortunately that doesn’t have anything to do with making music…
-The total amount of lessons is 36 hours.
-Every night there will be small concerts and jam-sessions
-Also in between the classes you may ask the teachers anything you want, for they are at the spot
‘full-time’. (except if they have a gig…)
-Among the teachers of the past decade were: Charles Loos, Bas Cooijmans, Herman Pardon, Pieter Bast, Peter Hertmans, Joe Higham, Steve Clover, Lisette Elbers.
-The repertoire consists of Real Book- or less well-known jazzstandards and sometimes originals, with arrangements made by the teachers.
-Arrival: mondaymorning around 10.00 a.m. first lesson 11.00 a.m.
-Departure: Sunday after breakfast.

Bassiste cherche à monter un quartet de jazz
Ancien élève du Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles (section jazz) et du jazz studio recherche des musiciens formés ou ayant les compétences nécessaires pour jouer ce type de musique.
Je cherche notamment: un bon batteur qui swingue, un trompettiste (son très jazz), et un pianiste de bon niveau.
Il s'agirai de joué des compositions en vue de faire des gigs.

Last night someone broke in my brother Myrddin’s house and took two guitars!
1 > Spanish guitar from builder Gerundino from 1974
2 > Semi Spanish-classical guitar built for Myrddin by Karel Dedain > Dedain 2005
If you hear, see or know something about two left tuned guitars PLEASE let us know. These are Myrddin’s only personal guitars and If you know Myrddin a bit you also know that all this is a amputation – artistic and financial!

Dear friends,
Since this afternoon (07/03/08) Myrddin has his guitars that where stolen back!!! Yes: both of them!!!
It’s a miracle! (The Gerundino is lightly scratched but that’s the only damage)
Apparently someone found them in a launderette and he sold them for a ridiculous price in a small bar in Ghent… the buyers called Myrddin and the cops after a while but someone who works there already warned Myrddin… the police is handling the case.
I personally don’t buy the story… but the most important thing is that Myrddin has his guitars back!
I know that the friendship, support, actions and forwarding of my first mail helped my brother really a lot and got him through this week of horror! He never lost hope thanks to all of you!
So, in Myrddin’s name:

De technieken die worden aangeleerd vertrekken van bekende zangtechnieken (Davy Jones, Cathrine Sadolin) die ontwikkeld zijn voor alle muziekgenres.Ze zijn gebaseerd op ontspanning om te komen tot een natuurlijk stemgeluid.
Inhoud:
* Basisprincipes: ademhaling, ademsteun, houding, resonantie, klankkleur, klinkers, stemfuncties, uitspraak, intonatie, …
* Warming-up en ademhalingsoefeningen(in groep)
* Lichaamsoefeningen ter bevordering van de stem (in groep)
* Abspannen. (oefeningen voor de spreekstem + oefeningen op volume)
* Zangoefeningen (in groep)
* Repertoire: interpretatie, podiumhouding, microfoontechniek omtrent een ingestudeerd nummer (solo)
* Stemproblemen (heesheid, pijn) adequaat aanpakken
