PhusionCulture Nu-Jazz Improvization Collective is a collective of
improvizing musicians founded by Matty Demont and Joeri Bal aka DJ Phuse.
PhusionCulture concentrates on contemporary nu-jazz or phusion. This musical
style touches styles like lounge, deep house, trip hop, broken beats, drum
'n bass, electronica and rare grooves. Most often, nu-jazz is based on a
strong breakbeat (e.g. hip hop) or broken beat with a funky electric or
acoustic upright bass, complemented with jazzy or latin rhythms and jazzy
improvizations.
The typical warm, lo-fi, liquid, laid-back atmosphere is
generated by analog vintage keyboards, e.g. Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer
electric piano, Moog synthesizers, Hammond organ, Mellotron and Solina.
Rhythm section is central and defines the groove.
