The Benoît RUWET trio was born from the meeting in Senegal, of guitarist Pierre VAN DORMAEL, who was teaching at the Dakar Conservatory, and drummer/percussionnist Benoît RUWET, who studied the rhyhtms of Senegal. Their common love for African music led them to form a band to which bassist Chris MENTENS was added. Their repertoire is mainly composed of standards played upon Senegalese rhythms or arranged in an African way, as well as a few original compositions. A warm cocktail of sounds and rhythms.
