Belgian guitarist Frankie Rose is releasing "The Open Country", a quartet with two guitars, including Roberto Di Ferdinando (guitars), Nicolas Thys (basses) and Laurent Mollat (dr). Not a "country" album, but rather on the rock side, this opus reminds us how much the guitar can be used to cross the bridge between jazz and rock since the early seventies. This time, Frankie Rose is more on the "rock" side, however Pat Metheny's shadow is discernible in a couple of tracks, and Nicolas Thys can sometimes be heard using the double bass.
