BRAZZAVILLE is a 6-headed band that produces an exciting, adventurous and especially a FUNKY sound! The music is inspired by 70's jazz & funk, afrobeat, rare grooves & simply life. Most compositions are written by Vincent Brijs. The band consists of Rhodes (Jan Willems), guitar (Geert Hellings), baritone & altosax (Vincent Brijs), tenorsax with effects (Andrew Claes), electric bass (Nicolas Rombouts) and drums (Maarten Moesen). They recorded their debut album “Days of thunder, days of grace” in march 2008 at MotorMusic Studio’s. It’s released on Evil Penguin Jazz, featuring four special guests; Zap Mama, Mo & Grazz & Zita Swoon’s Amel Serra! Brazzaville won the 2007 "Jong Jazztalent Gent" contest, they’ll give a concert at the Blue Note Records Festival in Ghent this summer and will tour with Jazzlab Series during November 2008. They were also engaged by actor and singer Pieter Embrechts & Belgian minister of culture Bert Anciaux to play at the annual “Cultuurprijzen” presentation.
